The garden is a joyful event – sculptures are free from winter shelters.
Even at the time of Anna Ioannovna, realizing that marble does not tolerate Petersburg winters very well, the sculptures begin to wrap up with canvas. But such a shelter did little to save marble sculptures from the effects of the cold. Therefore, in the 20s of the 19th century, the sculptor Demut-Malinovsky proposed, besides the canvas, the use of wooden cases, which more securely preserved the sculpture. Since then, only the design of the cases has changed.
An inquisitive reader may ask: “Why close the sculptures, if these are copies?” We will answer.

Firstly, copies of the sculptures of the Summer Garden are 80% marble – this is marble chips of various fractions. Like monolithic marble, it does not tolerate temperature extremes with freezing of condensate on the surface. Therefore, the care of copies of the sculptures of the Summer Garden is exactly the same as that of the originals. Question to inquisitive subscribers: “Where are the originals of the sculptures of the Summer Garden?”

Secondly, among the sculptures of the garden remained the original of a very beautiful and important sculpture. Perhaps one of the subscribers will name the name of this sculpture.

The sculptures of the Summer Garden without loss came out of isolation. We hope that with the onset of warm days the attack will recede, and the townspeople will be able to enjoy the Summer Garden without tourists.
Take care of yourself, be patient, and a meeting with the gardens of the Russian Museum will take place. In the meantime, we are trying our best to acquaint you with the news of the gardens.
