Summer has just begun, and in the gardens are already the first chicks bred by numerous birds. Recall that according to the observations of our experts, in the gardens of the Russian Museum you can see up to 30 species of birds, of which about 10 species nest. Especially a lot of birds in the Summer Garden. For several years now, blackbird pair chicks have been hatching here.

In the Mikhailovsky Garden on the Maslenoy Meadow, you can see sprigs of starlings. They are the size of an adult, but so far do not strive for independence and run after their parents, asking for food. “New” tits, wagtails, sparrows fly out of the nests, ducks with ducklings in the ponds. If you are lucky, you can watch how caring mother birds feed their chicks not only in the nest, but also jumping on the ground.

Regular ornithological studies conducted in gardens show that winter moth caterpillars and peeled moths predominate in the diet of birds. It is these species that noticeably damage the leaves of trees, making them carved and openwork. Our experts limit the use of chemical treatments, preferring environmental work to create conditions for attracting birds. Now it can be argued that the help of birds is quite effective.

Now there are a lot of chicks, it is possible that you will see them on the lawns or garden paths. A earnest request – DO NOT TOUCH and try not to get close. Mom-birds are somewhere close, they feed on the earth and teach their offspring life in a large and beautiful world.
