On March 17, 1972, a short note about an experiment that took place in the Summer Garden was published in the newspaper Vecherny Leningrad. In 1971, a new method of sheltering the Summer Garden sculpture for the winter was proposed. Instead of the usual wooden cases, five sculptures were covered with caps made of transparent organic glass. In addition, the sculptures were illuminated in the evening.<\/h4>\n
In her interview, the director of the Summer Garden, Kira Mikhailovna Egorova, said: “… while these innovations are experimental. It is necessary to find out how marble will” behave “in such conditions and a number of other points.”<\/h4>\n
In the end, the experiment failed, but that’s a completely different story.<\/h4>\n
