EXCURSIONS “GARDENS OF THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM DURING THE BLOCKADE OF LENINGRAD”<\/h4>\n
January 27 is the Leningrad Victory Day. On January 27, 1944, the blockade of the city was completely lifted. This victory came at a high price. More than a million defenders and residents of the city died in 872 days – so much the worst tragedy of Leningrad lasted.<\/h4>\n
During the January days, the Russian Museum wants to remind the residents and guests of St. Petersburg about the modest contribution of its employees and workers of the Summer and Mikhailovsky Gardens in preserving these world-famous monuments of history and culture from destruction.<\/h4>\n
On January 21, 2020 at 12 o’clock, the first excursion “Gardens of the Russian Museum during the Siege of Leningrad” will begin on the berm of the Mikhailovsky Palace. Tours will be held from January 21 to January 27 on the territory of the Mikhailovsky and Summer Gardens.<\/h4>\n
Visitors will learn about the work of the museum and garden staff during the war, about their life, about the evacuation of the museum’s collections. Tourists will be shown the places where the sculpture was hidden in the garden, they will learn the names of those who looked after the gardens at this terrible time. The story is based on the diaries and memoirs of the museum and garden staff, archival documents.<\/h4>\n
