One of the most touching pictures in the Summer Garden today is little ducklings in the Carp Pond. In the reproduction of urban mallards, one feature can be noted – a rather large proportion of their nests are located on trees quite high above the ground. In the gardens of the Russian Museum, for decades, observations have shown that ducks settle in hollows of linden, and in the Summer Garden they now meet openly on the ground in bosquets. The clutch contains 7-12 white eggs, which the mallard incubates for 4 weeks.
