In the Mikhailovsky and Summer Gardens, the GOOSE ONION (genus Gagea, family Liliaceae) blooms. Two species of this bulbous plant are found in the Leningrad region.<\/h4>\n

More often you can find a small goose onion (G. minima), it grows in meadows and edges, near thickets of bushes, in gardens and parks. It is a plant with narrow (1-5 mm) leaves. If you carefully dig the soil at the base of the stem, then next to the mother bulb, several daughter bulbs will be found.<\/h4>\n

The second species – yellow goose onion (G. lutea) – is much less common, prefers broad-leaved forests in the southern regions of the region. Differs in wider leaves (about 1 cm).<\/h4>\n
