Professional ornithologists and students of higher educational institutions help to observe birds in the gardens of the Russian Museum. And when there are any incidents with birds in the gardens, we always enlist the support of specialists.<\/h4>\n

At the beginning of this month, on Tuesday (June 6), an old-growth, completely withered Norway maple was demolished in the Summer Garden. The maple was a danger to our visitors because its trunk was hollow and root rot was found.<\/h4>\n

The problem for us was the presence of a sparrow’s nest in a tree hollow with enough adult chicks, but ornithologists came to the rescue and supported us. Arina Akhmedeeva, a master student at the Russian State Pedagogical University. Herzen, under the guidance of a professional ornithologist and candidate of biological sciences Maria Sergeevna Berezantseva, took the chicks to her home for feeding.<\/h4>\n

After a few weeks, the experts decided to release the grown-up and strong chicks in the Mikhailovsky Garden, into a small flock, often found near the playground.<\/h4>\n

Sparrows instantly joined the birds living in the garden.<\/h4>\n
