GRILL CHESS
(Fritillaria meleagris)
Spring bulbous plant of the lily family.
According to legend, the chess hazel grouse grew in the Garden of Gethsemane. Its snow-white flowers did not hang down, but grew upwards. When Jesus Christ was taken to the court, he looked at the flower and there was so much sadness in his eyes that the bells turned pink with shame. In mourning, they bowed their flowers and never straightened them again.
Falling drops of abundant nectar form moist circles at the foot of the hazel grouse.
