THE BIRD BLOOMED
On the Maple Alley, the BIRWERY (Prunus family Rosaceae) bloomed profusely, flowering trees look bright white from a distance. Bird cherry prefers river banks, slopes of ravines, forest edges. Blooms in mid-May, at the same time as the leaves bloom. A relatively short flowering period usually coincides with a decrease in daytime air temperature, for which this time is sometimes called “bird cherry cold”.
