(lat. Acer platanoides) is one of the most common trees in St. Petersburg. Like forsythia, maple blooms before the first leaves appear on the tree, as it requires good lighting.

Already in May, clusters of small yellow-green flowers appear on maple branches. Flowering lasts about a week and a half depending on weather conditions.

In the gardens of the Russian Museum, maple occupies almost a leading position; in terms of the number of trees, it is second only to linden. There are even much more maple trees in the Mikhailovsky Garden than in the Summer Garden.

Now, walking through our gardens, you can see greenish clouds in the tree crowns – this is the flowering of the maple tree.
