Starting from blooming May and ending with Golden October, the Summer Garden is always filled with children of different ages. From those who are just taking their first steps to high school students for whom the last bell is about to ring. And everyone finds something to their liking in the garden. Some are attracted to fountains – you must agree, it’s nice to dip your hands in cool water on a hot summer day. Others enthusiastically listen to the guide’s story about the sculpture of the Summer Garden. Still others consider bronze figures of the heroes of Krylov’s fables, depicted on the bas-relief of the monument. Someone carefully examines the archaeological finds of the Summer Garden Museum, located in the pigeon pavilion. Kids are attracted by a sandbox created in the form of the Favorite fountain. Fans of botany rush to the Red Garden bosquet to listen to a botanical tour about herbs and vegetables. And of course, ice cream and cakes in the cafe, which are located in the garden. All this allows you to spend the whole day in the Summer Garden in a fun and profitable way.

Knowing such a love of children for the Summer Garden, employees of the Russian Museum regularly arrange holidays for young visitors. At the beginning of summer, the city of masters, dedicated to Children’s Day, is a holiday where children are taught various crafts. At the end of summer, on the Day of Knowledge, the traditional festival “Museums for Children”. At this holiday, children get acquainted with various museums of the city and perform simple master classes.

Ecological holidays are held in the Summer Garden for environmental education of children. April 1 “Bird Day”, where students get acquainted with birds nesting in the garden, as well as the history of the creation and development of artificial nesting. In September, the traditional Harvest festival takes place in the Red Garden. True, it attracts not only children, but also adults actively participate in it. In October, there are even two holidays in the Summer Garden: “Oak Birthday” and “Golden Bulb”. At the first, the guys plant acorns collected under the Peter the Great Oak – a wildlife monument. Of these, garden staff will grow seedlings for the project “ALL-RUSSIAN OAKWORTH OF EMPEROR PETER THE GREAT”. At the second holiday, schoolchildren and preschoolers plant tulips in the beds located in the Red Garden bosquet. And in the spring they come and admire the results of their labor. November 12 is another holiday dedicated to birds – “Sinichkin Day.” On it, schoolchildren are introduced to birds wintering in our city and the rules for their winter feeding. So, when visiting the excursions and holidays in the Summer Garden, the guys learn something interesting, acquire new skills and have fun.

This year, for the beginning of June, the Summer Garden is unusually deserted. But let’s hope that the summer will disperse all viruses, and you can walk around the gardens of the Russian Museum without restrictions. In the meantime, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
