CHISTYAK SPRING
We are launching a new section #phenology_observations
Speaking of spring flowers, we most often use the words “snowdrops” or “primroses”. This group includes completely different types of plants, which are united only by the flowering time – early spring.
Bright photographs will allow you to easily determine which species a particular flower belongs to, and short notes will tell you where to look for it and what its features are.
Spring chistyak (Ficaria verna of the Ranunculaceae family) can most often be found in damp glades and forest edges, in maritime swamps along the shores of the Gulf of Finland. Chistyak often grows in damp places in old parks. Seeds usually do not form. The rounded leaves of the chistyak are fleshy and shiny. The buds resemble straight goblets. The plant reproduces exclusively vegetatively – by shoots and axillary nodules, therefore it occurs in spots.
