It’s amazing how one meeting can grow into a wonderful project. With Utoy Yaroslavovna Arbatskaya we met in Yalta on
conference of the Association “Revival of historical gardens and parks”
which took place in the Vorontsov Palace (Alupkinsky
palace and park museum-reserve) in April 2017.
Author of many books about roses and practices with great experience
it was burning to create for the festival “Imperial Gardens of Russia”, which the Russian Museum had already held XI time, a project in which the varieties of roses that were bred and named after famous figures of the Russian
state and members of the Romanovs’ house. Director of the Alupinsky Palace and Park Museum-Reserve Alexander Petrovich Balinchenko supported this idea.
And a year later, based on the materials provided by Utah Yaroslavovna, the students of the International School of Design of St. Petersburg, under the guidance of their teacher Galina Vladimirovna Metelichenko, made the design of twenty stands – this was how the project was born together – the Russian Historical Rose Garden, which decorated the Summer Garden berso during the XI festival “Imperial Gardens of Russia”.
The theme of this year’s festival was the “Flower Assembly” and this project perfectly reflected the very essence of this name. Thousands of people who came during the festival’s work in the Summer Garden thoughtfully read and looked at the faces of the long-gone famous people of Russia who glorified our homeland with their deeds and cares. All these wonderful people seemed to have come to the Assembly in the Summer Garden, at the invitation of the first emperor of All-Russian Peter I, and in honor of each of them a new rose appeared in history.
