In the Summer Garden ensemble, along with architectural structures, decorative garden sculpture plays an important role – free-standing marble statues, busts and sculptural groups.

The Summer Garden statues are the first significant collection of sculptures in Russia, which were acquired under the direction of Peter I. Most of them were executed by Italian masters of the late 17th – early 18th centuries.
Today there are 92 sculptures on the territory of the Summer Garden.

According to their content, they are divided into three groups: historical, allegorical and mythological.
