The Vine-leaved bilberry was brought to Europe from North America in the middle of the 17th century. Dutch botanist Kaspar Kommelin called this shrub “Euonymus Virginiana Ribesii folio capsulis eleganter Bullatis”. What does it mean “Euonymus virginsky currant leaves capsule elegant bubbly”.
