Dear colleagues and friends!

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the project “Plein Air. Historical landscapes of Russia ”, which will be held from 5 to 30 October in the State Historical Museum-Reserve“ Gorki Leninskie ”.

This is the seventh exhibition, which travels to museums of Russia, members of the Association “Revival of historic gardens and parks”. In the fall of 2017, seven museums and reserves, with historical gardens and parks in their composition, invited contemporary French artists to paint landscapes in the open air. At the exhibition you will see views of seven different palace, manor, monastic gardens and parks in the interpretation of French artists.

In the estate “Gorki Leninskie” worked Celine Bokobza, an artist from Paris. Celine visited Russia for the first time and was impressed by everything: the manor itself with a park and magnificent views, and the contrast of quiet country life and Leninist slogans, and changeable weather, responsiveness and sincerity of people with whom Celine met in the museum.

The exhibition is interesting for its different facets: how French artists saw Russian landscapes, historical parks, museums, architecture; what impressed them the most and caught their eye. The manner of writing each turned out to be so different and unlike neither other colleagues nor the “Russian school” that it caused interesting discussions among museum staff, artists and visitors of exhibitions, which took place in the “Tsarskoye Selo”, “Yasnaya Polyana” reserve museums them. CM. Kirov, “Marino estate”, the Palace complex of Oldenburg, “Rostov Kremlin”.

The project “Plein Air. Historical Landscapes of Russia ”is dedicated to Russian historical parks, the art of painting, and is also a continuation of Russian-French relations and cultural ties between these two countries.

At the opening you are waiting for French melodies, Russian historical park landscapes, a video film about all seven museums participating in the project and their magnificent parks. And of course the landscapes of the estate itself in the Gorki Leninskiy
