On November 17, 2020, the static screeds in the crowns of linden trees in the Summer Garden and maple trees in the Mikhailovsky Garden were re-installed by certified specialists from PITERARBO (https://piterarbo.ru/) at no cost. Ties are installed to strengthen the shoots in the crown of the trees and ensure their safety.

Linden and maple trees have dangerous forks with rot and are located next to paths along which visitors to the gardens often walk. For the equipment of the screeds, slings with bark-protective sleeves made of special textiles and a steel cable made of stainless steel with a diameter of 10 mm were used. The specialists not only quickly and efficiently replaced the old screeds with new ones, but also managed to shoot a small video about this, in which you can see the main stages of work – https://youtu.be/MfwYv8ZXWKM.

The old screeds have been disposed of because recognized as unfit for further use. This decision was made by specialists, including international experts, who gathered at the Round Table “Assessment of the condition of screed in the crowns of trees in the gardens of the Russian Museum”, which took place on August 1, 2019. The screeds in the tree crowns of the gardens of the Russian Museum were installed during the period of their restoration and have now become morally obsolete. Today, there are more than 100 screeds in the gardens and all of them require replacement, but funding does not allow for this, so we are grateful to the specialists of PITERARBO for responding and carrying out these difficult works.
