Employees of the “Leningrad Zoo” reported good news. Swans, who spend their summers in the Karpiev pond of the Summer Garden, decided to acquire offspring. Ruslan and Lyudmila (the so-called Swans of the Summer Garden) from 2012 from May to October were in the vast pond. Visitors to the garden admired the graceful glide of swans across the water. And they made the children laugh with their awkward gait while walking along the slopes of the Karpiev Pond. Since the 1950s, swans have become one of the symbols of the Summer Garden, meeting visitors from the Mikhailovsky Castle.

For seven seasons, at the end of April, swans were brought from the zoo and released into the pond for summer apartments. This year, this ritual was violated by the regime of self-isolation, so the couple stayed in the zoo. And in order not to waste time in vain, they made a nest and the female sat down to hatch eggs. Now the zoo workers are waiting for the appearance of chicks, and the employees of the gardens of the Russian Museum are worried about their pets in the distance.

In connection with the prevailing circumstances, which are pleasant for swans, this year they will remain in the zoo. And on the Karpiev Pond you can see only ducks and gulls.

Dear visitors, let’s take an understanding of the situation. And after permission to visit the gardens, we will not make phone calls to the administration of the Russian Museum with the question: “Where are the swans?”
