An exhibition of photographs “Tea in the Gardens of Russia and Turkey” dedicated to the tea-drinking traditions of the two countries has opened in the Summer Garden of the Russian Museum.

Visitors will see 26 photographs from the Russian Museum and other collections in Russia and Turkey. The exposition is located in the glass pavilion of the museumified excavations of the Lacoste Fountain. The exhibition will introduce visitors to the history of the tea tradition and interaction between the cultures of both countries. As a symbol of comfort and family hearth, tea drinking has existed in Russia and Turkey for more than one century.

At the opening of the exhibition, the installation “Russian and Turkish tea table” was presented, created by the creative director of the St. Petersburg Union of Designers Polina Slutskaya, where the works of St. Petersburg ceramists Natasha Kokiz and Tatyana Bogdanova were used. The illustrator Anastasia Vasilyeva created themed stickers for placement on tea cups especially for the opening.
