On the lawns of the Summer Garden, in addition to chistyak and goose bows, anemone is now actively blooming. So the people simply call two types of plants. These are Anemone nemorosa L. and A. ranunculoides L. (friends do you remember why the reduction). Another small excursion into the taxonomy of plants. All scientific Latin plant names have a letter at the end. Let’s figure out what it means. At the end of the name of anemones is the letter “L.” – this means that this Latin name was given to these types of plants by Karl Linney, and this happened in 1753. This means that the letters at the end of the scientific name of the plant indicate the first letters of the surname of those who assigned them a name.

But back to the anemones. A. nemorosa L or anemone nemorosa blooms with white flowers. In various regions of our country, it was called: white bloom, freckles, white kuroslep, white goat, forest month-old, mentor, ambirka. Now the most common name is white anemone.

Another anemone blooming in yellow flowers is called A. ranunculoides L., or an anemone is buttercup. This species also has a lot of small-town names: toad potion, yellow-bellied, yellowberry, yellow goat, ovary root, chorvoshnik, donut. Now most often called yellow anemone.

Both of these species belong to the family Ranunculaceae. Both are natural inhabitants of our region, therefore, they have been growing in the Summer Garden for a long time, but, however, they are less stable than chistyak and goose bows. Anemones are ephemeroids, and after fruiting the ground part of the plants dies, only underground rhizomes remain. Anemones give bees and bumblebees nectar and pollen. In the 19th century, oak anemone in folk medicine was used as a medicinal plant for external use. About buttercup anemone, Nikolai Annenkov writes about the use of juice: “Kamchadals poison the arrows with which they kill deer.” It is not known how true this remark is, but like many plants of the Ranunculaceae family, anemones can cause irritation of the skin and mucous membrane.

Therefore, it is better not to tear them, but simply admire their modest, but beautiful flowers. Anemones have another feature. In inclement weather, their flowers hide and wilt. So the plants adapted to keep pollen wet.

This spring, admire the flowering of anemones in the Summer year will not work, but we will still have the following years. In the meantime, watch your health and see you soon.
