The question was:

FOR WHAT PURPOSES THIS PAVILION WAS BUILT?

In May 1903, the 200th anniversary of the founding of the city was very magnificently celebrated in St. Petersburg. In the Summer Garden, from May 11, the “Peter the Great Week” was organized, during which an exhibition dedicated to the founder of the city was created in the Summer Palace, and costume processions were held along the avenues of the garden. For these purposes, the pavilion was erected. It had a small exposition, and during processions it was used as a dressing room.

In the photographs, you can see these processions. For example: “The Apotheosis of Peter surrounded by allegories of science, art, military affairs”, “Swedish ship with Charles XII”, “Wedding of the dwarfs”. The whole procession was called “Nystadt Peace”. The procession was attended by 500 people. The summer garden these days was filled with people who wanted to, so that the police had to restrict the entrance.

You can get acquainted with this and other stories of the Summer Garden at the exhibition dedicated to the 315th anniversary of the Summer Garden, which is located on the main alley of the garden.
