PETER THE GREAT BIRTHDAY
Peter was born on June 9 (May 30 according to the old style) in 1672. He was the 14th child of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, nicknamed the Quietest, and his second wife, Tsarina Natalya Naryshkina.
In 1682, Peter, along with his brother Ivan, was crowned king and was named the second king. But already in 1689, young Peter left the custody of Sister Sophia and became the sovereign ruler of Russia.
Thanks to the active work of Peter I, St. Petersburg is emerging in the Neva Delta, at the moment – a large metropolis. At the behest of the king, on the right bank of the Neva, the Red Mansions are being erected, now this building is called the House of Peter. On the left bank, in 1704, the Summer Garden is broken up, and in 1711 the stone Summer Palace was laid.
Currently, it is a single museum complex directly connected with Peter the Great. He was very sensitive to this heritage and did not spare funds for maintenance and preservation.
