PROMOTION “GOLDEN BULB”
On October 19, according to a long-term tradition, the staff of the Russian Museum planted four thousand tulip bulbs. This year the variety is Icoon.
The event took place in the Krasny Sad bosquet with a cannon shot at the Peter and Paul Fortress at 12:00. After a story about how to plant tulips, the museum staff began planting flower bulbs similar to those planted in the 18th century. In May, visitors will be able to come to the garden and admire the results of their labor.
We would like to note that tulips in the Summer Garden have been grown since its inception, when the first bulbs brought from Holland were planted by the gardeners of Peter the Great in the 18th century. In the 19th century, tulips also grew in a flower bed built on the site of a fountain.
