On October 8-11, 2021, the XI International Demidov Assembly was held in Nizhny Tagil and Nevyansk, timed to coincide with the 365th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Demidov dynasty Nikita Demidov, the 320th anniversary of the Ural metallurgy, the 320th anniversary of Nevyansk and the 180th anniversary of the creation by Pavel Nikolaevich Demidov of the Museum of Natural History and Antiquities.

The International Demidov Fund has existed for 29 years and has been successfully operating on the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad. Established in 1992 with the direct participation and support of the first governor of the Sverdlovsk region E.E. Rossel, it is designed to assist in the preservation and development of the cultural and industrial potential of Russia, based on historical ties with the traditions of Russian entrepreneurship and the legacy of the Demidov family. The organization’s activities are also based on the goals of studying and popularizing the Demidov heritage, preserving and restoring historical monuments associated with the famous dynasty. Within the framework of the Assembly, in the Demidov park near the inclined Nevyansk tower, a solemn ceremony of planting seedlings took place – the Petrovsky oak from the Summer Garden of St. Petersburg and the Siberian cedar. The seedlings were symbolically named “Peter and Nikita”. Now the owners of the imperial sapling are the Nevyansk State Historical and Architectural Museum, including the Nevyansk leaning tower of the Demidovs. Sapling number 265 has become a new point on the map of Russia and Europe and has been added to the “All-Russian oak grove of Emperor Peter the Great”, a program that the Russian Museum is promoting for the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great in 2022.
