What sculptures are depicted on the left and right edges of the late 19th century photograph?

These sculptures are called: “The Rape of the Sabine Woman” and “Satyr and Bacchante”. Now copies of them adorn the front parterre of the Summer Garden, the originals are in the Mikhailovsky Castle. Before these sculptural groups got into museum storage in the Mikhailovsky Castle, they were often moved around the Summer Garden.

Enjoy your walks in the gardens of the Russian Museum. We remind you that on Tuesday all branches of the Russian Museum, including the Summer Garden, are closed. You can walk around the Mikhailovsky Garden and Engineering Square. Only the fallen leaves are gone, and the snow has not fallen yet.
