BY THE SUMMER GARDEN
The picture shows the corner of the Summer Garden near the Pestel Bridge (now Panteleimonovsky Bridge). The drawing “Near the Summer Garden” was made in 1944 by Vera Vladimirovna Zenkovich.
During the Great Patriotic War, Vera Zenkovich remained in besieged Leningrad, where she painted paintings and graphic works dedicated to the heroism of the inhabitants of the city besieged by the Nazis.
This picture shows winter Leningrad. The trees of the Summer Garden are covered with hoarfrost, on the ice of the Fontanka River lies snow thrown from the streets and sidewalks. With a winter landscape, the drawing is full of optimism, because the blockade of Leningrad is over.
Enjoy your walks in the gardens of the Russian Museum.
