ALLEGORY YOUTH
We continue to acquaint you with the work of Anna Petrovna Ostroumova-Lebedeva. We present her drawing “Petersburg. Summer Garden Statues”, executed in graphite pencil and whitewash in 1901.
In the foreground is the Allegory of Youth marble sculpture, which appeared in the Summer Garden in 1722. During the time the sculpture was on display in the garden, various troubles happened to it. But “Youth”, thanks to the efforts of the museum workers, endured all the hardships. Now the sculpture is in the halls of the Mikhailovsky Castle, and its place is taken by a copy made of artificial marble.
