In the 30s of the XX century, the Mikhailovsky Garden was called the “Garden named after MOPR”. The territory of the garden was used for outdoor games for children and for sports. A wooden stage was built in the garden. Sometimes temporary exhibitions were held at the venues. Usually for holidays: Railroad Day, Aviation Day, Athlete’s Day, and so on.

The fence, designed by Alfred Parland, survived all social cataclysms and is still one of the adornments of the Mikhailovsky Garden.

Enjoy your walks in the autumn gardens of the Russian Museum. We recommend starting the walk through the Mikhailovsky Garden from the side of the Savior on Spilled Blood.
